This blog is about Weber Gas Grills and all posts will reflect that, but we just had to include the old faithful charcoal Weber Grill we all grew up around. This grill was the thing to have before they came out with the propane grills. Over the years Weber has tweaked and modified it's features but the basic design still stands. The new "Gold" model however is worth the upgrade. Here are some of the latest features...

The Weber One-Touch Gold charcoal grill has a heavy-gauge porcelain enamel that prevents rust...

"You're probalby thinking that there's no reason to update the 10-year-old Weber you've got in your back yard. Well, turns out Weber has made some smart improvements over the years-- the new "gold" model is worth the upgrade.

But here's the clincher: setting one of these up (takes about 20 minutes, even if you make a mistake or two) just makes you feel like you're in heaven. It's summer embodied. People rhapsodize about the new car small... well, fughettaboutit. The look of a shiny new grill that you've assembled yourself is about as good as it gets.
Highly recommended accessory: the charcoal companion. Put your lighter fluid (or your MatchLight) away and use this instead-- it works flawlessly, and it's better for the environment."

"I'm a big Weber fan-- I've used a Genesis gas grill for six years and a Smoky Mountain Cooker for two. Recently purchased the Kettle Gold. Great charcoal grill! The enclosed ash catcher is particularily useful if you grill with lump charcoal versus briquettes, like I do. It catches any sparks and small pieces of lump that drop through the charcoal grate. Hinged grate is also a big plus. I like to use the Weber charcoal holders to hold my lump when grilling steaks-- push them together in the center to sear (brings charcoal about 2 inches from meat) then push them to the outer edge for indirect cooking. I also added a thermometer to the lid to check and adjust cooking temps.
This baby would get five stars if Weber was still offering the cast iron grate upgrade for the kettles. It's been discontinued this year, but I hear some are still out there to be found. Even without cast iron, you can't go wrong with this as a charcoal grill, and being a Weber, it will last for years and you'll get great customer support if it is ever needed."

"Having owned a number of other brands of charcoal grills, I can say that Weber is by far the best for your money and also the longevity of the product.
My concern with my most recent purchase of this Weber grill is the engineering tolerances and design. The lid does not fill perfectly on top of the grill. It feels wobbly and unstable at best. A second annoyance, the legs will easily fall off if the unit is picked up by the ceramic base.
Aside from that the product works flawlessly. The ash catcher works well, especially if you live in an urban environment and don't want to make a mess of your "backyard".
IN SUMMARY:
I would still recommend the product, however check the pieces over very carefully and make sure they all fit well. It not, return it or call Weber directly and request for a new piece."

"I have to say I am quite disappointed with this grill. After handing down my hand-me-down Charbroil due to a move, I was excited to get this Weber (my wife calls me a brand whore). My excitement abruptly dwindled. First of all, when I opened the box, I quickly realized that some of the parts were missing. When I finally did get the parts (a week later) and assembled the grill, I found that the lid did not fit the bowl well. While smoking a pork shoulder, I stood there watching the smoke pouring out of one side of the grill. When I measured the lid's diameter at several different points, I found that the lid was out-of-round by about 3-1/2 inches. Another thing I like about the Charbroil is the fact that you can adjust the height of the charcoal rack. With this weber grill, you have to throw in about 2 pounds of charcoal to cook 4 hamburgers. Wasteful. While Weber's customer service is excellent (which is the only reason I gave this 2 stars), I will tell anyone who will listen to go with the less expensive, albeit less glamorous, Charbroil."

"Now Made in China and as usual when a company sends mfg offshore the quality suffers and this grill is no different. The fit of the lid is now poor, the cooking grate rocks due to the tabs that support it being uneven, the porcelain is cracking and breaking loose due to being to thick in spots, thanks a lot Weber, how much did you save by scaming customers who thought you still made quality products? I will tell everyone I know what kind of crap you now sell."
To summarize, if you are looking for a classic charcoal model Weber Grill, I think the 751001 22.5" Gold model is a good choice, the user feedback is very positive, and what's more the company offers a 10 year limited warranty. To check for the best price and to read more reviews go here...
