"I've owned every type of BBQ grill over my 70+ years. The Weber Q320 is the best of the lot. I switched from charcoal to gas grills about 35 years ago because gas grills are so much less trouble. The one thing I liked about charcoal grills is the flavor derived from the smoke formed when juices dripped onto the hot coals. Early gas grills I owned duplicatd that effect with lava rocks. But lava rocks were different sizes and sometimes fell through the supporting grate. Then ceramic briquettes became available. They were standard in size and easy to form into a pattern to catch the drippings. But ceramic does deteriorate over time so it wasn't a perfect solution. I believe Weber was the first, or among the first, to provide "flavor bars" - metal, triangular bars - to replace lava rocks and ceramic briquettes. Flavor bars worked well for me for many years. Their disadvantages were that they did eventually rust out, but they did last a long time; and to clean the bottom of the grill occasionally, they had to all be removed.

The Weber Q320 uses no devices to create smoke from the juices. It has an open area under the grill surface so juices drip in three places: onto the burners, through the opening in the bottom into an aluminum drip pan, or onto the bottom of the grill enclosure. I've found no noticeable difference in the taste of foods and the lack of the smoke is probably healthier since smoke must be loaded with all sorts of nasty things that are produced when things are burned. The cast iron grill surface is terrific in several ways. Unlike stainless or porcelain covered grates, the cast iron grill has no wide open spaces for food to fall through. You can grill hotdogs in any direction without worrying about them slipping through. I've sliced various vegetables into 1/2 inch slices and they cook nicely on the cast iron grill without any worry of losing any. Potatoes, zucchini, summer squash, onions, carrots, etc. Spray some olive oil on them and put them on the grill to cook. Delicious!! Meat gets the nice grill stripes that somehow enhances appreciation of the grilling experience. I've found that leaving the burners set to medium for most items produces the best results.

The thermometer in the hood gives a nice correlation between your burner control settings and the heat being produced. I try to open the hood just once to turn the items at the halfway point. One nice feature is that by looking at the grill from either end, you can see inside the unit without opening the hood, so if you happen to get a flameup, you can see it and take action. Of course, with no rocks, briquettes or flavor bars, the chance for flameups is greatly reduced. I sometimes grill in the evening and having the handle light is a nice feature. Where I grill in the winter, I have no overhead light so I have to hang something there. I haven't yet used the Q320 in winter, but the light will save me the trouble of hanging a light nearby. Finally, I leave my grill outside all the time. The premium cover provides good protection, but one of the reasons I really like the Q320 is all the plastic used in the stand - it won't corrode or rust. This is the grill I've been waiting for. Maybe some time, some one may develop a better one, but I don't see how the Weber Q320 can be improved."

"This grill turned out to be a great choice replacement for my previous grill, which turned out to be a piece of trash after only 2 seasons. I have had this grill for about a week now, (the wife purchased it from here and her review is below.) We've used it a few times already, and I've cleaned it thoroughly already, (after initial use the first night,) and it's worked wonders for us. I use a grill to cook all my meats on, year round, and I love how easy it is to use this. I was skeptical about it at first but, all in all it's a great little grill. I would highly recommend getting the griddle, (or two,) to go along with it though, especially if you cook fish as well, it will be a life saver. It's not quite tall enough to cook a turkey, (which I am disappointed with,) and my dutch oven wont fit under it like my other one did but, short of those things it's got enough room to cook meals for a family of 5-6. I would like to have seen aluminum or other metal side shelfs that also included a side burner and a rotisserie, that also fold down like these do. (Great space saving design.) The light is a sweet touch, I love it, only if it included the 3 AAA batteries that it requires to use it, would it be even more perfect. The pictures do not do this unit justice. Like others have mentioned the stand is plastic, so are the side shelves, though they are rather sturdy PVC type plastic. Would be nice to have more storage space under/in front of the unit. (Weber you watching these reviews?!?) I cook a lot at night or I would have taken a movie of it, (cams not good at night shots,) while cooking on it, sometime I hope to do a video review of this unit in action. It only takes a few short minutes to heat up to 450-500º F while outdoor temps are around 50-60º F, (there is a nice thermometer on it too!) Cleans up like a charm. I couldn't be more pleased with the grill, though the shipping of the unit from Amazon leaves some MAJOR room for improvement. Box was damaged during shipment and the backsplash, (plastic at the bottom of the grill to sort of hide the tank,) was malformed due to it. Otherwise everything went together okay although the directions were sort of tricky at points, and there was no wording with the pictures to clarify what you were looking at. I wanted to give this unit 5 stars but, I just can't. It's not the top of line grill but, it's really damn close to it! "

"First, the grill arrived with one of the legs broken, most likely during transit. The legs are maybe 4 inches of plastic and it snapped at the base. Because of the order of assembly and a small workspace, I was most of the way done when I realized this, and I did not want to take it apart and ship it back, so I used a little super glue and it should hold fine. Everything else about the grill is as advertised, the grill surfaces are very nice and it should do a great job for grilling. The cart looks and feels cheap, as do the plastic folding side tables. I think that the Q220 is a great idea in portability, but I think that the Q320 is a portable grill that is too large to transport, so unless you need the extra inches of grill space, I recommend going for the Q220."

I have had this grill for about 3 years which if it wasn't dangerous, I would say it at least held up quality wise. However, the burners (once replaced) explode when you try to start it. I have learned to open the lid, light the burners, leave it open and STAND BACK. In about 10-15 seconds, the entire surface erupts in a huge fire ball... I finally decided it wasn't worth risking my life to have a piece of grilled chicken and am now looking for another bbq. Also, another drawback to this unit is that although you can control the heat, it's one burner...so no matter where you cook on the grill, it's the same temperature all over. There are also SEVERAL cold spots. In fact, there was really only one spot on this grill that actually cooked. The rest of the food would eventually get hot but never looked bbq'd. I would not recommend this to anyone unless it's for just taking to the beach or something for an occasional use. Customer service was also very poor...

"The assembly was easy; I did the gas leak test and turned the burners on. I turned to get something, heard a second "Whoosh!" of igniting propane followed by my wife shouting, "Put it out! Put it out!", as she ran out of the yard. Even though there were flames shooting from the burner control knob and the burning plastic shelf was emiting noxious black smoke, I heroically turned off the cannister valve. The fire immediately went out, however "stupidly" may be a better adverb than "heroically". Turns out there was a huge hole in the gas supply tube exiting the control knob which didn't turn up in the leak test because you aren't supposed to turn on the burners during the test. Amazon graciously accepted my return and my decision to cancel the order. I decided to order the Vermont Castings grill instead. I liked the Weber grill but thanks to this episode I realized that there is too much plastic used in its construction. I have experienced grease fires using my old grill that could have ended in disaster using the Weber. "
